You Asked. We Answered.

We know that shopping for MBI coverage can be confusing. That's why we've made it one of our top priorities to give you simple, straightforward information on a variety of subjects related to extended vehicle warranties and our plans. Additionally, answers to some of our most frequently asked questions appear below.

Most vehicles come with a 3 year/36,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty. Once that expires, you have no protection against breakdowns or failures. The MBI plan assures that for a specified amount of time and/or mileage, both parts, labor and sales tax (if applicable) required for replacement or repair of covered mechanical systems in your vehicle will be paid.
Warranty Direct Insurance Services is licensed to provide MBI coverage by the California Department of Insurance (License # 0C36822). The extended vehicle warranty policies are issued by Financial American Property and Casualty Insurance Company a California admitted insurance provider.”
Warranty Direct is the consumer division of Interstate National Dealer Services, Inc., one of the nation’s oldest and largest extended vehicle warranty companies. You can buy from us with complete confidence. With over 30 years of experience, our company has received numerous distinctions for our financial stability including being named a Forbes Magazine Top 200 Company three times. Our experience is unmatched with nearly 4 million plans sold, assets in excess of $350 million and nearly $1 billion in paid claims. When looking at extended vehicle warranty companies, financial stability should be of utmost importance.
Wear-and-tear protection is the highest level of extended auto warranty coverage one can purchase. Warranty Direct provides coverage for parts that break as well as those that wear out. It is a much broader level of coverage than the mechanical breakdown only plans offered elsewhere. All Warranty Direct MBI policies include coverage for wear-and-tear failures. The more miles on a car when a repair becomes necessary, the more likely it is that the repair will be needed because a part wore out, rather than because the part broke due to poor manufacturing.
Absolutely! While many extended car warranty providers shy away from damage caused by overheating, Warranty Direct takes a much different approach. Although damage sustained when a vehicle overheats can be severe, we take care of all car repair costs for covered components provided the vehicle does not overheat due to negligence and provided you act immediately to prevent unnecessary damage when your vehicle overheats.
As long as the repair facility is accredited, licensed, and is located in the United States or Canada, yes, you really can choose any dealer, national chain, or local mechanic to perform the repairs on your vehicle. This is a benefit unmatched by among almost all other extended vehicle warranty providers.
This is one of the best aspects of being a Warranty Direct extended vehicle warranty customer. Claims are incredibly simple. Bring the vehicle to the repair facility of your choice, present your Warranty Direct membership card or membership number to the service professional so that they may contact our claims department. We'll pay for any covered repairs via our company credit card over the phone. All you pay is your deductible (if any). There is no paperwork, no limit on the number of claims you file, and no need to pay first and then work to be reimbursed.
With Warranty Direct, each repair visit, no matter how many items need to be fixed will only require payment of one deductible. Many extended auto warranty plans offer a zero deductible option where you'll never reach into your pocket for a covered repair. Some plans even cover the deductible on your manufacturer's warranty.
Your vehicle is a big investment. You likely spent a lot of money to acquire it. The longer it stays in great working condition, the more value you get from your investment. MBI plans are designed to protect your investment by keeping your vehicle in good, drivable shape without you having to incur a lot of extra repair costs.

Considering that the average hourly rate for mechanic labor can range from $60 to $90 an hour or more, labor alone can be a smart reason to have an extended vehicle warranty. When you also consider how expensive parts and systems can be to fix, the choice becomes quite clear.
Just like health insurance or life insurance, the better shape your vehicle is in when you obtain warranty coverage, the better your rates and pricing will be. It actually costs far less to buy an MBI plan on a newer vehicle in tip-top shape than it does for an older vehicle that's fallen into disrepair. By buying today, you lock in the costs of an extended warranty plan now, while your vehicle's at its best.

What's more, Warranty Direct never “doubles up” your coverage if you have a manufacturer's warranty. We simply provide those additional features like roadside assistance that may not be included in your manufacturer's warranty and allow you to pay a pro-rated cost until such a time when your vehicle is no longer covered under the original warranty and now needs its Warranty Direct extended vehicle warranty plan.
We find it rarely happens that a repair facility won’t accept our plans. Warranty Direct makes a habit of paying immediately and bases pricing on industry standard manuals. In fact, many repair facilities are eager to do business with us once they learn that they do not have to bill us. Still, if you are concerned that your repair facility will not accept one of our extended auto warranty plans, we’d be happy to contact the facility and establish a relationship before you purchase a plan. Should you find that a repair facility will not accept our plan for any reason, we will send you a prompt reimbursement for the covered amount.
Although we’re certain you’ll love your Warranty Direct extended auto warranty plan, we are more than happy to offer a money-back guarantee if you are not satisfied with your plan. Most plans can be canceled within either 30 or 60 days for a full refund. After that time period, a pro-rated refund will be issued for the unused portion of your contract. Unlike some companies, our refunds are pro-rated based on the time of coverage, not from the in-service date of your vehicle.
Yes! It most certainly is. For a modest transfer fee of $50 or less, you can pass your Warranty Direct plan onto the future owner of your vehicle should you decide to sell it while you’re covered. This can be a big incentive for a buyer to select your vehicle over another.
Because our top priority is always to make sure you and your vehicle are covered, we gladly offer a variety of payment plans so that you don’t have to wait for coverage. Our EZPay plan allows you to put down as little as 20% of the plan’s total cost and then have your credit or debit card charged up to 18 equal monthly installments for the balance depending on the length of coverage you purchase. Or, if you prefer, we can customize an extended vehicle warranty plan for fewer monthly payments. You may also pay by check over the phone for the full amount. No matter which payment option you choose, we will pay any covered claim regardless of whether your plan is paid in full.
